MONTERREY, Mexico July 9, 2011, 02:49 am ET At least 17 people were killed in a bar massacre Friday night in the northern Mexico city of Monterrey when riflemen opened fire on the clientele and employees, a state forensic investigator said.

Monterrey, a major industrial hub, has seen a spike of violence since the Gulf and Zeta cartels began fighting for control of drug traffic there two years ago.

The medical examiner's official said his office has recovered 17 bodies, including those of women, from the crime scene. He spoke on the condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak on the record.

Police sources would not confirm the number of dead people with The Associated Press and referred the AP to local prosecutors, who are not giving an official account of the shooting.

Federal police spokesman Jose Ramon Salinas said that high-powered weapons used in the shooting indicated it might have been a drug cartel confrontation.

Police sealed off the crime scene, which was still heavily guarded by the Mexican army and federal police by early Saturday morning.

Other downtown businesses looked closed earlier than usual after news of the massacre broke.

Mexican media are reporting 20 killed. The newspaper Reforma reported five more were wounded.

"Do not Try to Get Hired at WalMart in Burlington, NC - You can't!" by Kimberly Koerber-Bauer-Koerber

Walmart in Burlington, North Carolina is NOT catering to the population here. In fact, the hiring kiosks at the local WalMarts do not allow job applicants to fill out a new application or access an old one on file, to allow for continuity. 

There is a large Mexican population here, and very few Mexicans are working at Wal Mart in Burlington.  Ku Klux Klan leadership is here also.  "Someone" blocked employment here in Burlington, period.  Most of the people working at WalMart here are white.  It looks like someone got involved in preferential hiring.

 It is hard to know what other issues exist, but Internationally, Wal Mart claims to be ethical, has a statement online to this effect, and is supposed to be affirmative action oriented.

They named this shopping Center to cause area degradation to begin with in Burlington, NC.

This is an example of stu[pid development that we found here in Burlington, NC.  The thing is that there is a Cum Park Grill there, which is a greasy spoon on the 'degraded' side of this outdoor mall - shopping center.  Not far from this greasy spoon indoors is a tanning parlor business (still open) and a store that sells long wigs for women (still open).  The back  and hidden part of the shopping center has vacant storefronts (about 10 or them) and a 'cracked up' parking lot back there.  Sadly, the only grocery store for miles is in the front (street view) part of this sad shopping center.  Think I am making this up?  Why not visit this 'fine' development area and see for yourself.

The people who developed this look like they are trying to attract prostitution and sound like the same kind of imbeciles who affected that entire area.  This is supposed to be humorous. Ha, Ha. :(  Cum Park Plaza made it to an online entity called "College Humor" though.  Why?????

This place is a black eye for Burlington, NC.  The do have a post office ther in the front part of the shopping center and other viable businessses, but why develope a shopping center with a name used to cause crime, prostitution, and gang activity to find Burlington?  Right now, there are articles being submitted about nearby Greensboro, NC which has an epidemic of burglaries on the east side.

I don't think using the name of a 'sexual climax' for a shopping center was done by accident based on the other things that are there to be seen now.
