The following would be an interesting quiz on NPR as seen in: LaCrosse Wisconsin:
1. Near the Mississippi River is a Very round fountain, with a plain tiered on the outside concrete wall about 2 to 3 feet high.
2. Words engraved in the concrete around the fountain are imprinted in the concrete around the fountain and are these words:
A. LACROSSE
B. BADAXE
C. MISSISSIPPI
D. TREMPEALEAU
E. BLACK
F. ROOT
G. KICKAPOO
About 50 feet away is a large American Eagle on an imitation steel tree trunk which is very tall, with no branches or leaves, and broken so that the Eagle can sit there with large outstretched wings. The Eagle is large, black, and has a silver head and a silver hooked beak.
Plaques on the art object say on one side:
“Eagle Landmark 1987
Elmer R. Peterson, sculptor
Welded, Opr-ten and Stainless Steels”
The plaque on the other side of the object d’art says:
“Dedicated to All Past, Present, and Future Employees
Of Gateway Foods, Inc.
And Affiliated Companies From
The D.B. (Rhiny) Reinhart Family”
Just what does this all mean? Is this an infamous Black Power ‘Gateway” art gallery near the Mighty Mississippi River? Maybe others know more about this or want to venture a guess.

Kimberly
