"A Short Story about GREEN Cards and ORANGE cards and Greensboro, NC" by Kimberly Koerber-Bauer-Koerber

A beautiful black and white butterfly with
'colors' in the background.
What is a green card, and how is it used?

Usually, a GREEN CARD applies to immigration concerns.  Not in Greensboro, NC.
A green card here is issues by Weaver house Shelter, 305 West Lee Street, Greensboro, NC  27406,  after being there for 30 days.  The first card is white. The card contains Weaver House's address, phone number, and the person's name and address.

An ORANGE CARD is needed here to get public health benefits.  The ORANGE CARD entitles the person to be able to make an apointment, not recieve the health care.  BUT - if the person has no ORANGE CARD, then there is no way to get a public health or dental appointment.

These CARDS, which are not credit cards by the way, stem from socialism, and apply to everyone - not just immigrants.
